Detailed Itinerary:
Drive 45 km out of city to Kbal Spean Mountain. From the mountain foot take an easy 1.5km hike up to the hill passing through a nice forest offering beautiful views over the surrounding plains. On top you will find a river with many rocks under the surface holding inscriptions and Hindu statues referred to as lingas which date back to the 11th century. There is also a waterfall on top that drops significant amounts of water during the wet season but dries up entirely during the height of the dry season (March/April). If you are lucky, you will see a lot of butterflies around the waterfall. Enjoy a simple picnic lunch by the waterfall.

On return to the mountain foot, visit Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity, Cambodia’s first centre dedicated to conserving wildlife and biodiversity. Along with reptiles, raptors and pangolins, you may also see the giant ibis — the country’s rare and endangered national bird.

Another short drive will take you to Kulen Elephant Forest, a 1,100-acre sanctuary tucked within the foothills of Phnom Kulen National Park where elephants can road freely. These gentle giants, who once worked to transport tourists at Angkor Thom, have been rehabilitated into their natural environment and now live in peaceful retirement in complete freedom. On this tour, you can walk through the Bos Thom community forest to see them evolve.

Last stop you have option to view sunset at either Phnom Bok Mountain or Pre Rup Temple before turning to city.
